Exploring the post-apocalyptic streets of Hell-A in Dead Island 2 often leads players to locked containers packed with valuable weapons and crafting supplies. Near the entrance of the Halperin Hotel, players will encounter a locked security safe inside a small guard booth. Accessing this valuable loot requires obtaining the Security Guard's Safe Key, which is held by a specific named zombie lurking nearby.

Where to Locate the Security Kiosk and Safe

The Halperin Security Safe is situated inside a small security booth adjacent to the hotel's underground parking garage. Before players can open the safe, they must bypass the booth's electronic maglocks. Destroying these locks requires smashing the internal panel by throwing a weapon through the booth window, as well as breaking the alarm box above the entrance.

Once inside the booth, you will spot the locked safe sitting on the desk. However, attempting to interact with it confirms that a key is required to unlock its contents. Knowing where the key holder spawns will save you valuable time while exploring the area.

How to Spawn and Defeat the Key Holder

The key is carried by a unique, named Apex zombie called Hotel Security. This enemy will not appear immediately upon your first arrival at the hotel during early story missions. Instead, players must first progress through the main story quest Room Service for Major Booker and defeat Becki the Bride.

After completing this milestone, return to the underground parking garage located right next to the security kiosk. Down in the lower level of the garage, you will encounter the Hotel Security zombie alongside other aggressive undead. Eliminating this target will cause the Security Guard's Safe Key to drop directly onto the ground.

Strategy for Navigating the Parking Garage Fight

Fighting in the underground garage can quickly become hazardous due to the tight spaces and multiple zombie spawns. Players should utilize environmental hazard traps, such as electrified water pools, to control the crowd. Luring the Hotel Security zombie away from the main group allows for a much safer one-on-one engagement.

If the enemies in the garage appear over-leveled during your initial visit, consider completing additional side activities to gain extra levels before returning. Once you defeat the target and claim the key, head straight back to the booth to unlock the safe. The safe grants a high-tier randomized weapon that scales to your current character level, making the fight well worth the effort.
